Interesting facts we've didn't know about Twins until now...

1. The optimal time of gestation for twins is 37 weeks. (LETS GO June, 05!!!)
2. It is believed that possibly as many as one out of eight pregnancies actually start as twins. Very early in the pregnancy one embryo is absorbed with no harmful affects to the other developing one.
3. The chance of having twins is highest in people of African American or African descent (1:75-one place in Africa has 1:20 chance), next in Latinos, 1:100 in Caucasians and the least common in Asians.
4. Although all twin or multiple pregnancies are high risk, fraternal twins with separate sacs and placentas (diamniotic, diazygotic), like the kind we are having, have the "least" risks of all twin pregnancy's.
5. (And for the last time I answer the question)...Apparently twins do run somewhere in my family...Identical twins happen by chance. Fraternal twins are hereditary only on the MATERNAL side...sorry Hubby.
